I grew up in upstate New York, but spent 28 years in Seattle, 16 of them on an
island in Puget Sound raising 3 children, caring for horses, dogs, cats and
other critters and teaching elementary school. I spent a few years in Arizona,
but returned to New England to be near my daughter, son-in-law and 3
grandchildren.
My life as mother, teacher and grandmother has brought me compassion for others
and the joy of sharing life in all its shapes and forms with others.
A near-death experience brought me new life and conviction about how my life should be spent. The creation of this B&B brings together years of experience with the goal of sharing life with others and serving in a way that gifts both sides.
Shelburne Falls is a unique and wonderful place. I feel honored to be have been
able to create a place where people from other places can come to enjoy what we
have here. My home, my B&B, is an expression of myself, and what I have to offer my guests and my
community. I extend an invitation to you to come and experience all that we
have to offer.
In the photo above, Marybeth is shown helping clear
a rockslide in the Atlas mountains in Morocco. “The signature bowl [below] that inspired our logo is a family heirloom. It came from Iran when it was called Persia. The dove has always been one of my favorite pieces.”

The labyrinthine structure created by Marybeth’s son-in-law and the kids. He is also the one who designed and built her stone
wall gardens.
