There is more to see locally than can be listed, but here are many suggestions and tastes of what there is. You can also go to the Shelburne Falls and other local sites to look for more. There is more to see than even we know about.
Besides the local craftspeople, restaurants, and shops — both antique and new — there are countless walks to be had, along the river, up into the hills, just here in town. There is white water rafting, golf (Crumpin Fox is a internationally renowned course), and in the winter cross-country and downhill skiing, snowshoeing, and skating indoors or on ponds and lakes in the area.
If you’d prefer a drive, we’d suggest following the Mohawk Trail west to North Adams and Mass MOCA or the Clark Museum in Williamstown. In the summer there is the famous Williamstown Theater series.
Or you can go south to the University of Massachusetts Fine Arts Center. Excellent theater and art abound there.
We’ve listed several places for dining, exercise, and exploration, but by all means check the websites of local towns to see a full listing of each.
